hair in the drain. in my head. escaping my head.

eek, right?
yep. pretty bloody eeeeeek
don't be alarmed. it's just half of the hair from my head in the shower drain.

and then in my hand
to go in the bin. it's never a good thing to leave hair in the drain

at least not this much. we'd have a bit of a tidal wave in the bathroom of logged up water otherwise

see, the thing is that this is not extraordinary for me. this somehow happens to me on a weekly basis and has done so since my earliest memories of washing my hair. so i'm used to it. but i still never fail to be slightly bewildered at why i can lose so much so often, and not be bald!

and on another similarly hair-related topic, i have noticed of recent, very recent, that instead of having dead-straight hair which i was born with and had for a decent 30 years or so, i now have curly hair.

this is utterly bizarre to me.

i have curly hair.
i'm slowly coming to own this truth

completely and utterly bizarre.

it's ok. i don't mind it too much. something different. didn't have to pay for a perm!

so anyhoo, that's what i've been pondering about of late.
in fact, i have been rather absent from this my dear blog and i do sincerely apologise for my absence. but i haven't been much in a writing mood. no particular reason really. lots and none at all. but all is quite well in my life. much has happened, and i'll take the time to slowly update the mass of followers deeply interested in the ongoings of my life and my hairly habits. so do stay tuned. i'm back, and ready to regularly post my meaningless ponderings.

I has a theory! Its a great theory! Actually I have several!

1 - Everyone loses that much hair, more or less, but when your hair is long, it looks like lots more than others cos, well, its long. Which makes me wonder, how long is your hair these days? Cos in my mind your hair is always long.

2 - Not sure why this is, but ive heard from lots of people that either shaving, cutting really short, or losing it due to chemotherapy etc causes some kind of change that manifests in the next batch you grow. Maybe this happened to you after you cut it really short?

3 - Wearing my hair in a bun for years and years has made it very wavy.... I trained my hair! Have you been wearing a particular style consistently that might have contributed to curls?

positively fascinating theories.

i do agree that the more hair you have, of course - the more hair there is in the drain. it's easier to hide if your hair is shorter. but my hair isn't all that long. i only shaved it off last april. that being said, it has grown a considerable amount. it's probably at my shoulders. it has thinned out over the years - and so it's certainly not enough to warrant this kind of weekly hair loss.
interesting you say your image of me is with long hair. i'm of the same opinion.

i have heard the extreme change theory also. my mother swears the shaving caused this, but it wasn't as dramatic as all that.

and i hadn't thought of the hairstyle theory. i'm sure that might have something to do with it, but i've always put my hair in ponytails or up and continue to do so. my recent curls are curls, and not waves. and this is what i find so peculiar and curious.

i always like your comments. always thought provoking. thank you j-ster.
